One-player game and problems with the predators Empty One-player game and problems with the predators

This is a bullshit... Those big dogs just run away and die so easily. And they are so expensive! They seems to take no oders, I need to spend my time klicking thousand times to move them away from the deadly crowlers that they somehow are so eager to attack instead of just moving aside: they want to do the exactly opposite of what I tell them!!

I need to repit my command exactly thousans times because they just rebell every my right click that dirrect them to a different area!

I can not make them sit still with the command in meny, because they are melee fighters.

Another thing: Dog just did not see little Infected Terrains and failed to attack them untill I commanded, then this their bug got fixed: they started attacking them on their own.

And - "to make game easier for one player"... did you realy mean "easier", not "harder", by introdusing those really tough and shooting from good distuns Infected Marines in one player game?

I'm sorry, what? Clean up your post please. And your thread title makes no sense. Dogs are situational use. I generally don't get them. They are an alternate way to defend against the first few waves, with their own drawbacks. They can also be used to clear bases. They are NOT an army. Rolling Eyes Don't use them as such. The only true "army" units in the entire game are the rescue soldiers and mind-controlled Zerg. The game was made that way for a reason.

Don't use them for early defense without Restorers, Healbots, auto-rep Mules, etc. Use hold position. Rolling Eyes

Sorry to be so rough, but raging has no place here. If english is not your native language, sorry, but please try to be comprehensible, polite, and specific when you post.

I am sorry, Starke, but what does not make sence is (yours?) advise to gather minerals in the landing area the first day.

Dogs are good for the first days defence: you don't need to build all the turrets. And they are also relatively useful (if survived) when Hidra falling: to erradicate small Zergs that come with them. I don't understand where the idea of using them as the army could be seen in my words.

I don't really use them that often: I just needed to enhance my speed in changing my position under condition that I was not protected from at least one side by my colege ore by the area cleaned by him.

What words do you want me to clean? For me English words don't carry the same cemantick load as for you, so you need to tell me what exactly words you don't feel to be polite, I'll be gratefull for little lesson in situational and cultural features in using words.

Definitely not my advice! Shocked Lol.

Sorry if I missed the gist of your post. Um, but you used perfect english in this post(with the exception of one word) and were almost incomprehensible in the first. Question Thanks for the edits, they helped some. So, just to be sure, english isn't your first language?

As far as the semantics goes, you just seemed to be complaining rather than reporting an issue or offering a solution. If you start with "This is a bullshit....." then make sure to have some constructive information as well. Do you have any ideas to improve the Predators? Right now the best you can do is keep a close eye on them, make sure to heal them, and use the "hold position" command. Their speed is both a great advantage and drawback, because they can get both INTO and OUT OF combat (and trouble) faster.

Oh! I finally got the last part of you post, about the Infested Terrans. The main thing about them is the ranged ones that aren't affected by your barricades. While more challenging then the Zerglings, I would rather have them than the Banelings. You just have to adjust your defenses to not rely SOLELY on the protection offered by barricades.

Sorry for any misunderstanding, just be constructive! If you don't have any ideas, ask the community what they think about the issue and if THEY have any ideas.

Oh, and sorry if I sound like a schoolteacher. Embarassed

EDIT: And change the title to "Problems with Predators" or something similar.

    OK. You are right.

The problem is that Predators have too long "attack run" range. They keep attacking one enemy after another untill they reach the Spiner Crowler half of the map away and insensibly for player die. Even if the player sence their clinch with Crowlers, it takes AGES to remove them from the fight area: in spite of the orders to come to a sertain place they just keep coming back from a halfway to a designated by player point.

Another thing is that I can not use the "hold position" mode with predator because in this case melee attacker will attack only those units which deside to attack him insted of SUV-s or Mules. In other words, can't fullfil its protective destination in this mode.

well, as long as you can find a good teacher there.

Here, in Canada, some teachers are good to help you to step over the language barrier, but... dummm, only the immigrant teachers are able to teach grammar: there is no such subject as grammar in Canadian schools. And non-native speackers can't use language without knoving ruls.

It looks like the schools here only entartain and socialise Canadian kids)

I learned German years ago when lived in Germany. Now I lost it)

The internet teaches you how to speak, write, and read just as efficiently... It just depends on how you "cope" and process the information with it.

Heck, I learnt japanese accents from watching animes o.O... And several words and phrases...

Obviously i can't make a sentence at all in japanese, but at least i know keywords to use.

I also have the same problem with those dog runnin astray and die.

This could also happen to SCV/PROBE/Mule if you accidentally click on them to mine something.

What I usually do is to group all my forces under hotkey. However I do agree sometimes they do run off screen and died.

    Yea, yea, yea...
the reality is: you need motivation to study language. There has to be somebody close to you in order you to be intrested in comunication with person, because language is communication. The non-speaking your language girlfriend works just perfect in adalthood. You can't learn language like mathematics: as academical subject. Well, to learn mathematics to the high level of creativity (similar to free and sofisticated speach in lanuage) - you also need certain environment from the early childhood, and very good relation with your (good!)teachers and later with (good!)professors.
Similarly to a son of pesants who can't became a great mathematitian as a result of a miracle, you (or I) will never be able to right essays in Japanise without proper schooling and contact with intresting for us Japanise people. Well, cartoons would definetely help, but not replace contact with mam for kids or with partner for adalts.

Predators (or as the game files call them, cybercats) have the same weapon scan range as most units, 5. However, since this seems to cause trouble for people using them, I went ahead and reduced the scan range to 3. Try it out in the next patch and let me know if it's any better.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you for the change. Another thing to play with is the priority of the attack. If it is accesible for regulation, would be good to set Predators not to attack Spine Crowlers without command and even avoid them if Predators undergo their attack accidently, because Spine Crowlers are too poverful for them: definitly, the occurence of intentional using predator for cleaning up area from crowlers is very rear. Sometimes we could send them to kill a Krip Generator and come back, but I wouldn't: it is very difficult to get them out of fight with Crowlers.
Yes, this is another bug: Predators don't obey your command to move to another location if they are in fight.

I would be happy if, when accidently attacked by Crowlers, Predator behaved like when it undergoes the attack of flying creachers (it trying to escape, because it does not have the air attack and can't fight back)

I'm not sure I understand. You're saying that your units will not obey a move command? Are you sure you're actually using a move command (activated by right-clicking)? Or are you using attack-move (activated by pressing A then left-clicking)? Ordering units to attack-move will make them engage anything they can, so if they're currently fighting they'll stay in that fight.

I am pretty sure I used just right click, but I will check myself and try to repite the situation. And I've just experienced the similar behaviar of a Mule. I ordered it to move to a point, but it istead tryed to return to the damaged building and repare it (the autorepare was on). I save a replay. On this replay you can also see how the collector does not fit onto the geyser because of nearby Turret. If you are interested I can send you the file, just tell me how (I do not know the prosedure, other than post it on Youtube: which I don't want to do because I quit that unlucky one player game.)

First off, I like the attack range change, and it alone will make avoiding Spine Crawlers easy.

As far as the "bug," I think what is happening is AFTER moving to the assigned position, the Predators "acquire" the enemy again and chase after them, so you have to use hold position to keep them there, just like Mules on auto-repair.

For the save file, you can actually just find it on your computer and email it. On my Mac, I search for "Accounts," (it's a SC2 storage folder that isn't under the main SC2 folder) and go Accounts ->126983401 (gibberish numbers) -> 1-S2-1-168272 (more gibberish) -> Replays. Your save file should be in there. Attach it to your email. Once Nagnazul gets it, he can go to downloads, open with ->. There should be a bunch of SC2 variants that pop up to try and open it with. One of them should work. As a last resort, you can simply copy and paste the file into YOUR SC2 Replays folder, and it will appear under Replays ingame.

That is the problem that it happens not only AFTER, but, exactly as I said, BEFORE ariving to the designated point.

Thank you for the advice. In my Windows 7 I easily find files by using "Search" field. It allows me not to think about files location. But where can I get Nagnasul e-mail?
